Today brides are using their imagination to create the “dream wedding cake” for their wedding. The options are unlimited with trends that are classy, fun, elegant and traditional.
CLASSIC
Classic cakes are still the wedding cake of choice with a modern twist of personalization. White, cream and ivory are the most popular. At times a combination of colors creates a stunning look.
PERSONALIZATON
The trend is more personalized and less “saw-this-in-a magazine.” The introduction of monogramming, as well as the return of the personalized cake topper adorning the cake, offer creative opportunities.
WEDDING DRESS PATTERN
The cake can reflect the details and design of the wedding dress. When the bride stands next to the cake the connection is made.
FLAVORS
The more the merrier. Brides are selecting different flavors for different tiers enhanced with interesting fillings to compliment each flavor.
FLOWERS
Flowers are not just popular elements of wedding gowns and wedding invitations. They are popping up all over wedding cakes too. The flowers may be fresh to coordinate with the bouquets and arrangements in the wedding or the flowers may be created out of sugar art, confectionery clay or frosting.
COLOR
Many brides want coordination throughout the wedding. You will find colors from hot pink or orange to spring green; whatever matches the wedding scheme.
RIBBONS
As sashes on gowns rise in popularity, so do ribbons on the cake. Using a ribbon theme on the cake is an excellent way to bring in color while still maintaining a traditional look or to create a fun look with bright stunning colors. It adds another layer of richness without cluttering the overall look of the cake.
CHOCOLATE
Many brides are opting for a rich chocolate cake inside and a rich chocolate frosting outside. White chocolate cake with a fruity filling is a rich combination also.
THEMES
Many weddings today have themes that are carried out from the invitation, to the table centerpiece and on to the wedding cake. Themes can range from seashores, seasons, holidays, hobbies and sports.
